Fortaleza Brazil Events

We will be back in a few weeks to complete our coverage of the FIVB World Tour events in Fortaleza, Brazil. The first of three events scheduled for the 2015-16 season in Brazil will be the FivB Fortalesza Open, which will take place in Fortalesza from April 26 to May 1. This is the first time in the history of the event that the F IVB World Tour takes place before a visit to Fortaloza and the second year in a row.

Fortaleza will host 10 events in total during the 2015-16 season, followed by the FivB Fortalesza Open from 26 April to 1 May 2015 and then the Open Open Open Open from 2 to 3 May 2016.

The last men's event in Fortaleza was in 2007, but it was also the last women's FivB Fortalesza Open for the FIVB Beach Volleyball Circle. Since 1979, the course has also hosted two S-level tournaments for men, women and men, and at least one has been held in each season in which the F IVB plays beach volleyball. In total, Brazil has hosted more than 1,000 events in the world's most popular sport and remains the only international event to be held on the track since its inception in 1979. It was first played in Rio de Janeiro in 1993, during the first season of the Beach Volleyball World Tour (BVV).

The festival was so successful that it was moved to Rio de Janeiro for another year, but it was followed by a short break before returning to the north-east to play the tropical beats again.

Gastronomic tourism fans will certainly enjoy Fortaleza, and hundreds of attractive restaurants, cafes and bars welcome visitors every day. Carnival, Reveillon and New Year's Eve are popular events, so it can be very crowded during these times.

The highlight of the calendar is the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, with 24 teams of both sexes. The FIVB world rankings system for 2016 will again include a number of events in Fortaleza, such as the Road to Rio and the World Tour events. After the Road to Brazil, which runs until 13 June 2016, the five World Tour events of the FivB will continue, which will be added to the Olympic ranking to determine which gender will be present at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Brazil is well ahead of both sexes in the number of FIVB events in Brazil, with 63 medals, followed by the USA (26), Germany (23), France (20), Spain (18), Italy (14) and Spain (16). South American countries hosting the events, but also represented by possible qualifying rounds, which do not include the World Tour events in Fortaleza or the FivB World Championship in Rio de Janeiro.
